Playing Softball in Extreme Heat
As temperatures continue to rise, it's important that all players, coaches, and spectators take necessary precautions when participating in softball games during extreme heat conditions.

High temperatures combined with physical activity can lead to heat-related illnesses such as heat exhaustion or heat stroke. Please ensure that all players stay well-hydrated before, during, and after games, take advantage of shaded areas or cooling stations when available, and wear light, breathable clothing. Umpires and coaches are encouraged to allow additional water breaks and monitor players closely for signs of overheating.

If the heat index reaches dangerous levels, games/practices may be delayed, shortened, or postponed altogether to prioritize the safety of everyone involved.

At this point, no games/practices are cancelled.  Please follow the Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit advice on dealing with extreme heat by clicking here.

We appreciate your cooperation and understanding as we make these decisions with player well-being as the top priority. Let’s work together to ensure a fun, competitive, and safe experience on the field for all participants.
